Certification

All trees that are to be used for forestry planting need to be produced under the Forest Reproductive Material (Great Britain) Regulations 2002. In addition, trees being used for other purposes are expected to be covered by the same regulations on a voluntary basis.

Beechgrove Trees and Hedging is a tree nursery registered with the Forestry Commission under the regulations (FRM registration number S0340). This registration ensures that all trees are produced in accordance with the relevant regulations.

As part of the regulations, when we are collecting tree/shrub seed, we are required to pre-advise Forestry Commission of what we are seeking to collect, and from where, and in what quantities. This is then followed by a detailed return of what has been collected. This information is then use by Forestry Commission to provide a Master Certificate, details of which are then provided to every purchaser of that material on a ‘Supplier Document’. Where we need to buy-in seed, the supplier provides details from their Master Certificate, which we then provide to our purchasers in the Supplier Document.

Within the business, we ensure that we have relevant professional certificates where required. These include pesticide handling and spraying, deer management, ATV use, chainsaw, first aid and health and safety. We use a range of methods to keep updated.
